Does Tobacco affect your Teeth?
Most of the
people are now aware that smoking is not good for their health. It can cause
different types of health issues and, in some cases, fatal diseases. However,
so many people don't realize the damage that smoking does to their mouth, gums
and teeth. Smoking can lead to tooth staining, gum disease, tooth loss, and
also causes to mouth cancer.
People who smoke are more likely to spread bacterial
plaque, which leads to gum disease. The gums are affected because smoking
lead to decrease the oxygen level in the bloodstream, so the infected gums
don't heal. Gum
disease is still the most regular cause of tooth loss in adults.
People who smoke may find they are more likely to releases bad breath than
non-smokers.
Smokers are three to six times more likely to increase gum disease
or periodontal
disease, which can infects the roots of the teeth and it cause teeth to
fall out.
Remedies for smokers:
- Always use a tooth brush
with “M” shaped bristles for better cleanliness of teeth than ordinary
tooth brushes with flat bristles.
- Do not use hard tooth
brushes because it will damage the gums.
- Better suggestion is to
Quit Smoking.
- Decrease the usage number
of cigarettes in a day.
- Brushing twice regularly
and get your teeth cleaned by a dentist every 6 months.
